A large breach in canal of Ghotki Feeder flooded the surrounding populated areas and cultivated lands but timely action of irrigation department prevented the losses. According to the details, a 20 feet breech emerged in a canal of Ghotki Feeder in Mirkosh area near Obaro due to which the gushing water entered the adjacent agricultural lands and residential areas.
However, the irrigation department personnel rushed to the scene and filled the breach with the help of tractors. It should be mentioned that Ghotki Feeder Canal which is the largest canal of district was damaged at various locations due to negligence of concerned department.
The banks of canal are so weak at certain points that they could break at any time resulting in major losses. Large scale corruption has also been revealed in the project launched by irrigation department to strengthen both sides of canal.
